Have you ever heard, “Life is 90% attitude and 10% what happens to you”? The single most important decision you can make out of every given moment is choosing the right attitude. Everything follows from there–“The ancestor of every action, is a thought”.
Your attitude can literally make or break you! You’ve seen those people always walking around looking down, sad, angry, always complaining, etc. Who wants to feel like that all the time? Nobody. Who wants to be around that? Nobody. If you don’t see those types of people very often you’ve most likely chosen to surround yourself with “high attitude flyers” or… just maybe it might be you who needs the “attitude adjustment”. If so, there is something you can choose to do about it and change it for good. The next time that BA (bad attitude) starts creepin’ in, tell it to take a hike and tell yourself instead the opposite of that thought. For example: “I always feel tired”, changes to “I always feel vibrant, alive and well”. Say that to yourself every time that BA trys to pull you down, and your self-fulfilling prophecy of vibrancy will soon be on its way.
If you feel nothing else is in your control one thing certainly is and that’s your attitude — 100% of the time. You are in the driver’s seat when it comes to your attitude about your life. Don’t allow others or other things shrink away your good attitude about life. You are the only one who can give permission to let outside forces drag you down.
So what can affect your attitude is how you look at the world and how you see yourself in it. Do you choose to live in a hostile world or a peaceful world? This is all about attitude, perspective and outlook. If every day all you choose to see is death, destruction, misery, suffering, etc, your tendency would be an attitude aligned with those same hostilities. But if you choose to see kindness, love, compassion, and joy in everyone and everything around you, then the tendency would be for your attitude aligning itself with well-being. Before you know it, there won’t be any need to practice, it will just become “second-nature” to have a great attitude.
Very simply put, it is the glass half-full approach to life. This is not a Polly Anna way of looking at life as some might think. It is merely keeping your attitude on the brighter side of things. Research has proven that those who have positive attitudes or positive thinking have less disease, pain, more social networks and live longer. It just makes us feel better, doesn’t it? Do we really need a better reason than that? A great attitude can help make you fulfill all of your dreams and create that pathway to success. Continue to think of the Serenity Prayer in order to help guide you the next time things seem out of balance or “don’t go your way”. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.” There are far too many deserving people and things in life that need our attention for us to fall victim to wasting time on circumstances that are out of our control which can potentially devastate our pleasant attitude. Let your Attitude create Gratitude.
Now, which world do you choose to live in?
